I’m grateful to be arriving at 25 in the midst of a massive creative outpouring. I can’t seem to stop making.
This fence.gif was a compulsory side quest I paused yesterday’s hangover walk to complete, to the amusement of many passersby during the 13 minutes it took me to photograph all 127 finials. Each finial was spaced one medium-large side-step away from the previous. After about 5 finials, I realized the process was becoming a sort of dance – the duration it took me to frame and photograph each finial setting a fairly consistent beat. Sinking into the rhythm, I fell into a sort of trance. Originally intending to only photograph 20 or so finials, I couldn’t bear to pull myself out of the pocket before the change in property lines decided the end for me. Can you tell I’ve been listening to probably too much house music?
Anyways, that’s where I’m at this week: joyful, eyes and heart open, easily entertained, mind a little fuzzy, with busy hands and sore feet and more love than I know how to receive.
This latest year of life gifted me with many opportunities to learn about acceptance, and letting go, and flow. I feel thoroughly rinsed, and ready for my brain to harden into the fully developed state it supposedly achieves at 25. Goodbye fleeting phases of self-discovery, hello permanent personality and thus far achieved maturity!
Looking forward to next year’s birthday check-in, where I’ll be reporting back for the first time as the same exact person I am today.
:)
