(A very official Instagram flyer will be circulating shortly, but as always, you guys hear first <3)
Michael Raines has been kind enough to show my work at his Family Photo Studio - a wonderfully weird photo space in Portland’s nearly abandoned Lloyd Center Mall. If you haven’t been, you really just have to see it to understand.
Photographing for this show reminded me how it felt to fall in love with photography for the first time. Meandering around my neighborhood, simultaneously lost in thought and present in the moment, I got to forget myself and instead become the odd person on the side of the road frowning at pigeons for twenty-five minutes.
We’re not finished yet, but having another person to bounce ideas off of, and edit and sequence with has been such a treat. I’m so grateful for Michael’s enthusiasm for this art form, and for his ability to bring all of us picture-takers and picture-enjoyers together. Every event Family Photo Studio puts on reminds me how vibrant Portland’s photo community is, so I’m floored that I get to hold my own.
Come join us on June 9th for a celebration of city walking, shiny objects, blue skies, spring vibes, pigeons and pavement and Portland.
Would love to see you there :)
