This week’s artistic endeavor was a product of Katy showing me her Fortune Teller Fish, and Trish renting a Blackmagic for the week. For this, I got to act, direct, and play around on the piano - three things I’d never considered in terms of my identity as an artist until recently. Trish was kind enough to help me in the filming department, complete with official lingo such as “speeding” and “cut”. It feels like it’s been a long time since I’ve done something so instinctual. It’s really wonderful being around friends who not only encourage your ideas, but expend their own energy to support them.
More often than not, I forget that visual art in itself is a method of communication and expression, and does not require further verbal or written explanation. Even the artist is not required to understand what they’re making - only to make it. This is The Fish, and this is exactly what I wanted to make, and I feel better now that it’s done.
Who even knows what day of the week it is anymore,

Why am I crying????
